RAGUSA & RAGUSA IBLA​

The tour will start in Ragusa with the Cathedral of San Giovanni,
and the Church of the Collegio di Maria Addolorata. In Ragusa Ibla we will visit: The Church of Santa Maria delle Scale, the Church of Santa Maria dell'Itria, famous for the splendid colored dome and for its ancient origins. The Cathedral of San Giorgio, one of the greatest expressions of sacred Baroque architecture, built on the pre-existing church of San Nicola. The Public Gardens and the Portal of San Giorgio. The latter is in Gothic-Catalan style, with a precious lunette depicting Saint George killing the dragon and two lateral rhombuses containing the Aragonese eagles.

MODICA & SCICLI​
​
Modica, ”town of a hundred churches”, is one of the sites of UNESCO World Heritage. We will visit: Duomo di San Giorgio, an exceptionally beautiful church overlooking the whole town, and the Chiesa di San Pietro . After the tour we will taste the famous chocolate of Modica. A few km away, we find Scicli also listed by UNESCO. It is a priceless treasure of outstanding late Baroque architecture and decoration. The walk includes: the Cattedrale in Baroque style; Palazzo Beneventano Via Francesco Mormino Penna characterized by religious and civil buildings which represent the maximum expression of Baroque architecture and which has been used as set in the fiction “Il Commisario Montalbano“.

MONTALBANO'S TOUR
​
The tour will starts in Punta Secca. In this small seaside there
is the famous Montalbano’s house. In the immediate vicinity you can observe: the characteristic 34 meter high lighthouse, the small church and the Scalambri Tower.
You will continue with the visit of Scicli a small baroque jewel declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, it too has become a film set for fiction. Palazzo Comunale has in fact become the Vigata Commissariat, while Palazzo Iacono has been transformed into the Montelusa Police Headquarters.
Upon returning, you will pass by Sampieri for a short visit during which it will be possible to admire the Fornace Penna, or
La MÃ nnara, an isolated and poorly frequented place in
Camilleri’s stories.

DONNAFUGATA'S CASTLE
​
There are several legends hover around the Donnafugata’s Castle. The most famous tells of a woman - the White Queen of Navarre - imprisoned by Count Bernardo Cabrera - lord of the County of Modica - in a room from which she managed to escape through the tunnels that led into the countryside surrounding the palace. Hence the dialectal name “Donnafugata”, meaning “woman escaped”. At the end of the tour you can also visit the beautiful garden with his labyrinth. Moreover, inside the castle’s wall there is a restaurant with typical goods and a bar where you can have an aperitif while enjoing craft local beer.

WINERY & WINE TASTING

Valle dell’ Acate opens the doors of a historic winery that tells about six generations of agricultural entrepreneurship. The visit al- lows enthusiasts to discover the secrets of the art of making wine, in an enchanting atmosphere made of history, traditions and culture. The guided tour shows the places, methods and tools used to make the wines. From the vineyard, to the Palmento, to the “Dispensa”. The “Dispensa” hosts the guided tastings of the Valle dell’ Acate wines.

FARM & FOOD TASTING
​
Masseria Posto di Blocco 452 is one of the oldest and most traditional agritourism in Ragusa. This farm produces milk and cheese as per tradition. It offers a tour that begins with a presentation video available in multiple languages with historical notes and explains the different tasks of a farm.
The tour continues with a visit to the animal shelters, shows the direct milking and the tasting of freshly milked milk, and then shows the preparation and transformation of milk into provolone and ricotta. The tour ends with a taste of typical products: olives, caciocavallo cheese, hot ricotta, pork sausage, cavati with sauce, cannoli with ricotta.
